Round 7 Baking Gals

It’s Round 7 for the Baking Gals. The team I joined this round is Amanda’s Team Orange. The military member we are supporting this round is an Airman, he’s in the Air Force and his name is Levi Hobbs.
Levi Hobbs was deployed November 15th, 2008. He participated in 6 weeks of training, was deployed to Kuwait, and then to Quasar, Iraq. He is currently located at Camp Bucca which is the original Prison Camp, and still remains active. Camp Bucca is located 50 miles from Kuwait and 50 miles from Iran. Levi is a member of the United States Air Force and is currently a gunner on a 16-person convoy that runs routes every single day. They work 12-hour shifts and work mainly “outside the wire” which is outside the base. They sleep and eat on base and that is basically it. They travel around to different villages while on patrol. Levi has somewhat taken a liking to an 8 year old girl named Zana, who just lights up his world and she helps to take care of her two much younger brothers. Levi is married to Ashley, and she is currently pregnant with their first child. Levi will miss the birth of his son, Camdyn, but he hasn’t gone more than a day without seeing pictures of his wife’s growing belly and his growing baby. As of now his return date to the United States is July 12th. Ashley is due in late April, so hopefully Levi will be able to come home soon after to meet his new son.
I’m started my baking yesterday and Alyssa helped! I am making chocolate chip cookies, oatmeal raisin cookies and snickerdoodles. So far I have already made two dozen chocolate chip cookies and two dozen oatmeal raisin cookies. The snickerdoodle dough is in the fridge chilling out before I bake them. I really enjoy the Baking Gals. It’s a lot of fun, if you have free time to bake you should look into joining the Baking Gals and supporting the troops. Now I have said this a dozen times but I’m going to stay it again..my husband and I were both in the Navy. He was in for 9 years and I was in for 8, so anything that we can to do support the troops we will. Anything from home will put a smile one any one’s face. You don’t have send baked goods, you can always put a little care package together. A lot of Baking Gals send, magazines, candy, stationary, beef jerky….the list goes on forever.

You may not believe in what is going a thousand miles away but the troops are only doing what they are told to do, what they took an oath to do. Just because a person doesn’t support the war doesn’t mean they can’t support the troops. I believe supporting the war and supporting the troops are two completely different topics. So if you feel like giving a little support please head on over to the Baking Gals site and join a team! Thank you for your support!!!
