I miss Starbucks drive-thru

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

Confession…..I love Starbucks!  I know many people would never buy coffee from them but I love it!  The people are always nice and I have never had my order messed up.  Back in my Navy days we would go on coffee runs and have 7-10 different coffees and they would always get it right!  Since moving to Southern Illinois I have missed the drive-thru at Starbucks.  There is a Starbucks here but inside Kroger, no drive-thru.  I don’t shop at Kroger very often so there for I don’t go to Starbucks very often.  With three kids I find it very unnessersary to unload them and go into Kroger just for a coffee.  Don’t get me wrong…I’m not lazy it’s just a hassele that I can live without.  My kids are 7, 4 and 16 months it’s just too much trouble to park, get a buggy and walk what seems like forever just to get a coffee.  Then fight with the youngest on the way out not to touch because it’s hot!  See what I mean!  Then I’m sure on top of that the other two will complain because they don’t want to go to Starbucks or because I will not let them get milk or juice because we have milk and juice at home.  Too much hassle.  So after driving to Texas when we lost power I stopped at McDonalds, no starbucks around, to try their McCafe iced coffees.  I needed a little pick me up.  I know the McCafe has been around for sometime now but I have always been a little scared to give it a try.  I was a little surprised, it wasn’t bad.  It’s not Starbucks but it’s also not hours old coffee at the gas station.  So for the next few days until I move to Texas the McCafe is my new Starbucks.  I can’t wait to get back to the big city where they have everything.  I love the city!!  Starbucks…with a drive-thru on every corner, I can’t wait!  I just wanted to share that with everyone, thanks for listening.  Have a great day!!  Time to get back to packing.

Moving….to Texas

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

So I am finally packing up and getting ready to move back to Texas. I grew up in Texas but haven’t lived there since I left in 2000 when I joined the Navy. It hasn’t even been a year since I got out of the Navy, I was in for eight years. I learned a lot about myself and the world and met a lot of people I will be friends with for the rest of my life. But being in the Navy has nothing to do with moving to Texas.
Back to moving….I have the kitchen packed up so I haven’t done much cooking. It’s been a lot of eating out and cooking frozen french fries and nuggets the past few days. My husband has already moved to Texas he stated his new job in March and me and kids have been hanging out in Southern Illinois until my oldest is out of school for the summer. We will be moving this weekend. I wanted to let everyone know that I will not be able to post anything for a few weeks. Please keep checking or subscribe to my blog for updates! I will be back!! Thanks for everyone who reads my blog! I really enough this food blog thing!

Crazy Days

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

Well the past few days have been a little crazy.  Last Friday there was a really bad storm that came into town wiping out all power.  There were power lines down, trees down and everything was closed.  The estimated time of repair for power was Wednesday.  With three small kids, a dog and no generator we loaded up and drove 13 hours to Texas.  I checked the Ameren website this morning and our power has been restored.  The school isn’t open yet so we will probably be staying in Texas until Friday, just because.  It has been a little crazy but the kids are enjoying this nice sunny weather in Texas.  They have been in the pool everyday first thing after breakfast and loving every second.  They were a little upset when I told them the power was back on at our house.  Well anyway I just wanted to update everyone on everything that was going on.  I will have a food post in a few days after we get back home!  Thanks for stopping by
