Support Our Troops

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

As many of you may already know I served in the Navy as well as my husband and brother.  With Veterans day being tomorrow and the holidays coming up I wanted to share a few ways you can support our troops.  There are Sailors, Soldiers, Airman and Marines serving all over the world away from their loved ones.  They give up many of their freedoms so the rest of us can enjoy the comforts of home.

History Of Veteran’s Day

Veteran’s Day Events

Irag and Afghanistan Veterans of Ameriaca (IAVA)
-IAVA has a list of local Vetern’s Day Events.  Find an event near you!

UNO Chicago Grill
-Free entrée or individual pizza (with an entrée or pizza purchase of equal or greater value).

There are tons of offers out there and there’s no way I will be able to list them all.  Listen to your local radio stations and news channels for offers in your area.

Support Our Troops All Year

Baking GALS

-Volunteer bakers from around the country

Holiday Mail for Heroes
-Red Cross

USO Care Packages

Operation Gratitude

Here are other ways to support our troops:
-Place a yellow ribbon on a tree or your car

-Email your family/friends that are deployed on a regular basis

-Attend a homecoming even if you do not know a service member returning.  There’s nothing like a homecoming!

-When you see a person in uniform shake their hand and say “Thanks for serving our country” you have no idea how much this will mean to a service member.

-Visit a Veteran’s Hospital

Please feel free to leave more suggestions in the comments. I would love to hear your ideas.
